Communicate with search engines

One of the ways in which Your Firm Online continually strives to improve search engine optimisation is by sending automatic updates to search engines. These updates allow search engines to re-index your firm’s website as your website changes, and aim to increase your search engine ranking and website traffic.

  1. Sitemaps. These xml files are essentially the blueprint for your website: they outline the structure and hierarchy of your content. Your Firm Online creates sitemaps that adhere to international conventions and are automatically redrawn and resubmitted to search engines as you add or remove pages from your website. This means that search engines can effectively index your site and that all hyperlinks remain up-to-date.
  2. News updates. Each time you edit or add a news update or firm blog post, a notification is automatically sent out to up to 140 different search engines informing them of your changes. This is done through a process called “pinging”, where one automatic “ping” notifies a range of different popular Updating Services and search engines that your website requires a re-visit for indexing purposes.
